Symmetrical Celebrities


For this project, the teachers explained two types of drawing to us which were stippling and blending. I used blending in my project. I picked out the celebrity that the teachers had on the table. We then were instructed to design the other half of the celebrities face. After I drew everything, I then was able to shade my paper. I used my finger to blending it all together.

An extension activity for this project could be a unit over the presidents. We could be learning about the presidents and then the students would pick their favorite, draw the other half of their face and then on the back of the paper write a short biography about their president.

Vincent Van Gogh

For this project we used a black sheet of paper. We also used tissue paper and we were instructed to rip small pieces representing Van Gogh's work. We then tacked them down with a certain type of glue that dried clear. We had to cover the whole piece of paper. We then got to pick which landscape we wanted to use for this project. I chose a city skyline for mine. We drew our landscape, cut it out and then glued it to out paper. We also took oil pastels and made a design in our project. An extension  activity for this project could be to choose a different type of artwork that Vincent Van Gogh designed and try to resemble that, just like we did for this one.

Under the Sea

For this project we learned about different animals that are in the Ocean. We then drew the animals that we wanted in our project and cut them out. The bottom of our project was a sticky sheet of paper. We cut out the border and stuck that down to the sticky paper. We then took tissue paper and ripped off small pieces to place on the project. We finally glued our animals down on top of the tissue paper. An extension activity for this project could be a unit over even numbers. Instead of drawing animals, the students could draw even numbers and place those on their project. This would be good practice for the students.
